NANCY DOHERTY, RYT, CYT
Nancy Doherty is a certified, registered Yoga Therapist, Yoga
and Pilates instructor and personal trainer. Sessions, classes and workshops are held in her studio, client's workplaces
or homes.
She works with individuals and couples using yoga therapy for healing and prevention
of illness and as adjunct therapy to medical therapies, for example, dealing with side effects of cancer
treatment. Her areas of specialty in yoga therapy are
anxiety and depression, asthma, diabetes, yoga for fertility and conception and yoga for
menopause.
In addition, she provides individual and group classes in yoga and Pilates, helping her clients gain
flexibility, conditioning and physical training.
She has taught classes in the New York tri-state area and in Jamaica. Some of the classes she offers are
hatha yoga, kundalini yoga, yoga for fertility and conception, pre-natal yoga, post partum yoga and fitness, Mommy (or Daddy) and Me, Mat Pilates,
Combo fitness, meditation instruction, personal training, and programs for weight loss and athletes.
Her speciality is designing individualized programs for her clients, based on each client's needs, goals and physical condition.
She is a registered member of the Yoga Alliance, the national
yoga certification organization, the International Association of Yoga Therapists and the PhysicalMind
Institute. She is a certified Pilates Master Practitioner and a certified Personal Trainer (ACFE, NOCA).
She is a member of the Rockland Business Association, a former President and member of the Rockland County Business Networking International and has been a member and former Director of
the Rockland Business Women's Network for over a decade.
Nancy was the Stress Specialist and the Meditation
Expert for the IVillage.com website, voted Best
of the Web by Forbes.com. She also developed and
managed MeditationGuides.com, teaching meditation teleclasses nationally and in the U.K.
ANU ABRAHAM, PT, DPT
Anu Abraham PT, DPT, is a certified Pilates instructor. She is also a phyical therapist in practice
at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, specializing in vestibular rehabilitation and balance disorders.
She received her Bachelor of Science, graduate degree and clinical doctorate in physical therapy from Daemen
College and received her vestibular rehabilitation competency from Emory University.
At Lakeside, Anu teaches both group and private Pilates classes, and her enthusiasm, sense
of humor and engaging manner allow her clients to have fun while strengthening their cores.
For Anu, Pilates is a great method for connecting the mind and body together, continuously
using the mind to focus on the various muscles that are being activated. She believes keeping the mind present with
the movement being performed is one of the most effective ways to exercise and achieve one's fitness goals.
